Question: Where are you located?
Answer: We are located in the very back of the Millard Sheets Library in Room 100E.
Question: What services do you offer?
Answer: We offer student support services in academic tutoring and success coaching.
Question: How do I meet with a tutor or coach?
Answer: You can make an appointment to meet with a tutor or coach by using this link: https://otis.libguides.com/slc, in-person at the SLC, or emailing us directly at email@example.com. Additionally, your instructor or academic department may refer you to tutoring and/or coaching.
Question: What’s the difference between coaching and tutoring?
Answer: (Tutoring): During our one-on-one tutoring sessions, highly trained tutors help you with your writing skills, art history, or math skills by asking you questions about your work and helping you through the problems you face, not by telling you what to write or what the answer is.
(Coaching): A success coach will help you discover strategies to take control of your academic, personal, and professional success. Your coach will support, encourage, and guide you to reach the goals you set for yourself, while you are being pushed and held accountable along the way.
Question: How do I make an appointment?
Answer: You can make an appointment in-person at the SLC, online at https://otis.libguides.com/slc, or by emailing us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Question: Are walk-ins acceptable?
Answer: Yes! We recommend making an appointment beforehand in order to ensure availability, but you are more than welcome to visit us without an appointment during our opening hours.
Question: Can I use the space if I am not meeting with a coach or tutor?
Answer: Yes! Please feel free to come into the SLC to study or use our resources such as the MAC computers, printer, scanner, bean bags, tea station, kindles, books, electronic charging stations, and more.
